I have a Vaillant ecoTEC PLUS 831 R1 boiler. Over the summer we have not had any issues, only having to recharge the pressure once in 6 months.
We recently turned on our central heating and the boiler is now suffering from a total loss of pressure on a daily basis. I checked the pressure release pipe outside and found it to be dripping.
We called in a plumber who diagnosed a faulty pressure vessel diaphragm and suggested replacing the unit. I did a bit of research and found a replacement part (P/N 181051) available for £59 (much cheaper than the £120 he wanted).
I am going to order the replacement vessel but am not confident about replacing it myself. Does anyone know if it is the kind of job an amatuer can do? If so, how would I go about doing it?
I am also concerned, after doing a bit of research, that the pressure release valve may have been damaged by the faulty vessel, is this the case?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
