Hi Folks, my first post here so thank you in advance to anyone able to help in answering the following questions on this...
I've recently added a weather compensating controller (VRC720F wireless) to my Vaillaint combi. Initial installation went smoothly enough, but the configuration menu's are very unintuitive and there's no info out there I could find on configuring a gas boiler for weather comp with this controller, only the AROtherm heat pump products of theirs, so I'm struggling for answers.
I have set up the external OT unit and that is communicating ok it seems. However please could someone kindly run me through all the essential settings to get this controller up and running correctly. I'ts been guess work so far and It's doing odd things. I understand that in order to define a temp curve that this is specific to the environment I'm in back here and that theres a number of variables that could also affect that curve value. To clarify that I have 8 rads on a single circuit and that's all. it's average size maisonette rated at EPC C.
I had been previously getting best results with my EcoPure 830 when I turned the heating circuit flow rate down to 55 degree's and so I am trying to model a curve value based on roughly 18-21degrees indoor target temp at no greater than 55 degree's flow temp. However, every time I have tried to enter a value in the parameter for the 'temp curve' the logic in the controller seems to revert the flow temps back to 90 degrees max flow temp. I have cross referenced the charts in the manual and it would appear that a temp curve of 1.8 or therebouts would be closest to what I'm hoping for here, would that be right or am I miles out?
I have noticed that comfort setting is not available on this controller nor my boiler since connecting the VRC720F. I am not sure if this has been disabled. By 'Comfort' I mean the hot water feature that gives more instantaneous hot water on demand.` It seems to have completely disappeared so I am currently unaware of it's status.
Are there any specific boiler settings that need to be configured via the installer menu to enable this controller to work as it should?
Spent a small fortune on this controller and Its really uninspiring. There's no indicator on the display to tell you if it's actively heating such as a flame symbol etc, and every time you leave the screen inactive for a moment it goes to sleep so you can't see what the current temperature is as with 99% of other thermostats on the market. What were they thinking?
Hey ho. If anyone could shed light I'd be really grateful.
Thx.
Jon
