Value of bricks.

At no point did I ask "How much can I get for..."

At no point did I ask if anyone wanted to buy anything.

At no point did I ask if anyone was selling anything.

At no point did I state I was selling anything.

Yes this is a DIY forum, but it has a large membership of tradespeople. It also must have a large membership of the general public. At least one person, from either of these groups must have either bought, or sold such an item. I was interested to know as what cost. I was not asking them to buy such item, or sell me such item.

No rules were broken, why couldn't it just be left so that, maybe in a few days, one such member with aforementioned experience might happen to stumble on this post and share such experience.

I don't know...

I expect this to get the usual breezer response of see item x, but anyway.

so that means you knew you were doing something you shouldn't

i also told you go sell them on ebay, but you again chose to ignore my advice

If I asked how much the Mona Lisa was worth, would it be the same as asking how much I could get for it?

No, I wasn't doing something I shouldn't, but I knew you would state that I was.

:)

Are we having fun yet?

why dont you try and buy 500 of these bricks and that will give you an idea of how much their worth.

you can sell reclaimed bricks and there is a big market for it. it does depend entirley on what bricks you have. Try a few salvage yards or do some more searches on google as its quite a specialised field. The norm for this type of market is for brick salvagers to pay for the rights to demolish a building, in the hope that they will get enough of the good quality bricks out of it to be able to sell on. You are talking big quantities however.
Now as to the point breezer is making it is also a valid one, because unless youve ever been to one of the reclaimed brick yards you would not believe how many different types of bricks have been manufactured over the centuries. It was very much a localised cottage industry that has slowly been swallowed up. Some bricks are worthless, others are much sought after. So until you identify the bricks you have, you may as well ask the proverbial about a bit of string (twice as long from the middle to the end!) Alos what you consider as 400-500 useable bricks, may not be so in the eyes of a bricklayer or a salvager.

Hope that sort of all makes sense.
