Vauxhall Corsa - like a screeching noise from the right

Hello,

Hoping for some advice. My car knowledge is appalling sorry so hoping for some advice.

For a few weeks my car has seemed to make a bit of a screeching noise at times coming from the right hand side - it doesn't happen all the time and mainly on journeys over half hour and on faster roads. When I touch the brakes (even slightly) the noise seems to stop and when I come off the brakes it starts again. It doesn't always happen either.

It's like a screeching / whistling type noise. Anyone got any idea what it could be?

Sorry if my reply seems way off, honestly my car knowledge is limited to putting petrol in. I got new pads and discs a few months ago. Would that make the noise stop when I touch the brakes?

Indeed it would, Matt......the brake calipers should have been completely cleaned when the work was done and also checked for not releasing fully. This will show up nicely at MOT time.

Take the car back to who fitted the brakes, could be a back plate touching disc

I'm due to drive to London tomorrow, (a mate who works on cars has said the same as the people here)

If its just that, will that be fine just driving down and then back? It's booked in the garage next week

It wouldn't worry me Matt, if the brake pads were replaced just a few months ago.

It goes from bad to worse for me - driving home yesterday red warning light something about oil pressure and to stop car, car slowed down. I stopped it and turned it back on to drive home and it was fine. Still going to take it to the garage though

Check the oil level would be an obvious place to start

Yeah I put a litre of that in a couple of weeks ago. Thats about my limit though mate
