When my Vauxhall Zafira (Diesel 2014) is left for a long period (usually overnight) in freezing conditions, I am unable to move the gear stick from left to right.
As the day warms up, it is ok again.

Had the same issue this morning, so left the engine running for about 10 minutes and all was fine again.

My guess is that in the freezing conditions some linkage somewhere is freezing up.

My plan is to find the various linkages, dry them and cover in grease, to hopefully avoid this happening again.

My question here is where I can find these linkages and how I can access them.

Also, if anyone has any other suggestions on what the problem could be and how to resolve?

Many thanks in advance.

When was the last time the oil was changed?

With the car off, does the problem still exist?
Engine oil was changed a few months ago. Oil level OK.

The problem only occurs when car not been run for a while in freezing conditions. Once warmed up, all OK.

From memory i think these have a gear linkage assembly on top of gearbox, lower bulkhead area.

Split bushes, water (freezing?) in cables, general wear and tear.
