Velux Window wet patches

Hi, I’m back again 2 years later with the same situation of condensation coming into the internal building at the head of our velux windows. We have stripped out the insulation and I have uploaded a video of where the problem is, my question is as I don’t have an insulation collar should the roofers have used addition felt around the metal frame to take any condensation build up away from the building? The velux tech said you should not be able to see the metal frame from inside the building. Any advice wound be welcome.

Condensation does not come into the building. It is formed inside. The cold outside and the condensation inside is your enemy. Robust foil sandwich insulation and VCL installation is the remedy. And because it is a bathroom, you will need to be uber diligent.

I always fit BFX collars on every skylight, if you don't have one then at least try to make your own out of the roofing membrane.

Hi,

Did you ever get to the bottom of this Nicola? We are having similar issues with our velux and getting nowhere.

Thanks
