Vented system - air separator

Mick, thanks for the comments, and your guess was close. 800mm from centre of pump to outlet from F/E tank. However, even if I lowered the pump I could only gain a further 300mm without having to re-plumb the HW tank / three way valve and feeds to the rads. As we don't have a loft and the roof is shallow pitched, there isn't much I can do about moving the F/E upwards either..

So far though, the system has been really quiet and no signs of air in the rads :)

With a low head installation like that a combined feed and vent may be good idea (boiler manufacturers instructions permitting). ChrisR's diagram has the feed and vent the wrong way round.

no it hasn't, unless i'm reading it wrong I think we have flow from right to left then cold feed then vent then pump unless the round object at the bottom is supposed to be the the boiler then yes wrong way round but i'm sure its the pump

the pump will suck down the open vent (pumping down). the cold feed should be nearest to pump!
