Hi all, hope this isn't too wrong a place to put this.
At the outset of renovating my kitchen, but can't make a decision on whether to bother with an extractor as the hob will be over a metre from where we would put the hood. I can see the regs have a minimum height from the hob, but not sure whether putting it this far away would be totally useless. Grateful for your thoughts, here's a pic:
More context- solid external wall. There's an old air brick further down the galley kitchen, which I was going to brick up. Was toying with the idea of getting a nice looking hit and miss grill over it, but I'm not sure we'd need extra ventilation. In the original set up there was a fireplace in this room. I'm going to get the windows and see if we can get rid of the column in the middle and have a new lintel etc.
Also discounted the idea of running a vent to the old air brick as it would basically look crap, and while we've got this apart might as well do it properly.
Anyway open to ideas from the wealth of experience on here. Thanks!
