Vents and firestove

Hi,

A lot of cold air is coming into my kitchen/living room from a large vent installed by the previous owner on the ground floor (see picture). As he also added a firestove around the same time, I presume this was done to comply with building regulation. Could you confirm that this is the case? If so, is there a way to reduce the cold airflow while keeping the firestove?

The regs require any stove over 5kW to have a room vent or to be fed combustion air from outside.
Under that, natural draught is deemed sufficient but it’s always a good idea to do a spill test with a smoke bomb, and of course a CO alarm is vital.
You’ll get one hell of a draught with that set up!
Clearview stoves have a good air admittance system, straight from underside to the outside.
