Hi, I just replaced my old Veritas 8 control panel with the same Veritas 8 new one, a new back up battery and Premier Odyssey 1E external sounder. Everything functions as before except one thing. When I set the system and exit, the external sounder rings for 5 seconds. Before the external sounder LEDs would flash to indicate the system was set but the sounder remained silent. Does anyone know how I can silence the external sounder when setting the system please?

I don't have the manual to hand so can't say immediately, but the first thing that springs to mind is you have connected the bell to the strobe output and vice-versa. Sounds like it may be strobe on set is selected. Have you tried the system tests to check sounder and strobe?

Hi, thank you for the advice I will re-check the wiring. That sounds like the most probable cause as I've run through all the checks.

Certainly believe that it’s either a short or incorrect wiring between bell and strobe.

For ease of testing you can fire the bell trigger does it sound and Or strobe, and do a strobe test for the same.

Not sure you will be able to place the into hold off mode.

1. Bell hold if is done by triggeringthe strobe on off on, there is an option to do this in the menus.

2. To release it you fire the bell

As the bell and strobe maybe triggering together it is likely that you won’t be able to place it into hold off.

Upon inspection of the external sounder I had accidentally switched the A (red) & B (blue) wires. Once this was corrected the system functions normally. Thanks again!

Thank you, you are correct. I was unable to place the system in hold off mode but I was able to rectify the wiring issue fairly quickly with just a short burst of noise.
