Viessmann Vitodens 100 - Water Temp Modulation Query

Just checked and x400 was used to clean the system then x100 inhibitor is in the system.

Ho Ha !

How can you check two years later?

Is there a sticker on the boiler?

Or did you just read the Benchmark or their invoice?

Its easy to write anything. That does not mean they used it!

Even if they did its not always possible to remove all dirt using just chemicals hence power flushing.

If they really cleaned it properly then why is there dirt in there now?

Thanks for that reply Tony. Yes I checked the benchmark and I am all too aware that what people say they do and actually do may be at polar opposites, but due to the fact I am not a plumber I have to pay and have some qualified in to do the work. Egg sucking aside, thanks for taking the time to help me. I think I will have to call veissmann out as the plumber who did the service seems only interested in me "cutting my losses" and installing a new boiler.

i would suggest you kick him into touch then. how can you possibly tell your customer to cut there losses on a 3 year old boiler! you have a resonably quality boiler by todays standard, 10 yr guarantee on that heat exchanger.

This "plumber" who did the service is clearly not a plausible professional. More likely an ill informed semi cowboy!

Viessmann have a network of trained approved installers whose details are on their web site.

Its a relatively simple job for a professional. We would charge £136 in our local area.

Your boiler probably had a three year warrantee but dirt in the plate is not covered although the ignition unit would be as would be the stuck flap.

I totally agree that it is rediculous to have to change a boiler after three years. Although I do understand that things go wrong with mechanical items I seem to be receiving a catalogue of faults with this unit and all now that it is out of warranty.......very annoying.

The installer was not recommended on the viessmann website and I would not use him again, however, the service of the boiler was done by a Veissmann approved installer recommended on the website.....

I am now awaiting to hear back from Veissmann as to what they are going to do to resolve this issue........

I dont see what it is to do with Viessmann as the boiler is outside the warrantee and in any case a blocked plate HE is never covered by the warrantee.

Why do you think it concerns them?

Tony

a blocked plate heat exchanger is classed as an installation error

I think that it has not been positively identified as a blocked heat exchanger and therefore it is too early to start blaming the installer.

Those specialising in boiler repairs only, tend to see models once out of warranty.

Those of us fitting lots of new ones are generally first to find out what is good, and what is not, because we handle the complaints first line during the guarantee period.

Your plumber's comments about cutting losses may be more prudent and sensible than you think. I have to be careful what I say.

Many of those doing boiler repairs only, are only or mainly doing warrantee repairs !

That includes the manufacturers staff engineers as well as those independents who are independent service agents.

Approved installer so that I can offer the five year warrantee but not a service agent for Viessmann.

Of course I do change the ignition units on boilers that I have installed.
