View laptop on TV by HDMI?

Hi,

I do not have a serial port on my TV, only a HDMI connection. Firstly, do you get laptops these days with HDMI cable connections? ... and more importantly is it possible to connect a laptop to TV via HDMI cable and use the Television screen as a monitor like you can with a serial port connection?

yes you can, you can also get VGA to hdmi coverters so you can use the VGA port on your laptop. (just for info serial ports havent been used for displays for a looong time)
