Just bought a new computer and find that our existing Lexmark printer wont operate. Anybody know why this is because it still works fine on our old XP computer

wrong driver, lexmark dont make a driver for your printer either

(some one had the same problem you now have, they called lexmark and that was the reply)

yep , and dont buy lexmark ever again

(you could try and see if they make a driver, but then thats lexmark for you)

Cheers Breezer, cant understand Lexmark doing this because if Vista is going to be the in thing for a year or two aren't they shooting themselves in the foot ?

No. Because people will always buy new printers ;)

If your model is no longer produced, they have no obligation to provide a driver compatible with a new operating system.

Windows Vista Drivers for lexmark printers are available for most of them just log into lexmark website find your printer and at the bottom you should find the vista drivers (but you will get a constant problem with "found new hardware" appearing as you switch on)

Windows Vista is a pain in the butt - don't buy it until you really need to

Is there no way to take "dont show this again" action on this pop-up?

Just in case your posting puts people off they do now! They also have a really great customer care service pulling out all the stops to solve problems.

I would like to mention that it was from an enquiry from lexmark that resulted in lexmark saying they dont make a driver for a particular printer

Not a problem Breezer. I am well aware of the fact that it is only recently that Lexmark has bowed to pressure from consumers and introduced the download drivers.
