Vokera Flowmatic

DP instead of trying to make it look like you are the only one who knows what he is doing, people are only making suggestions if we were in front of the appliance we would have a better chance of diagnosing it. We dont all work with vokera all the time.Keep your fly comments to your self or share them in macclefield.

Have I missed something? Where did this come from?

4th note down was just a suggestion it did not need a fly high lighted remark. I read a lot of what he suggests on lots of forums including ARGI and its clear he's very noligable but always try's to belittle peoples suggestions. Sorry if it appeared a little rude it was not meant to be.

Have never purported to be the only one who knows it all. I like some others on these forums, do indeed work a lot more on Vokeras which gives us better insight into workings of the appliance. As such they/ we can ‘see’ a defect that would not be evident to a first timer or even someone standing in front of the appliance. Have fixed boilers where components were replaced that did not need replacing. Having said this, there are times when a defect is not always easy to fix on an appliance that is commonly worked on. Being in front of the boiler does not always conclude with a success- have walked away from some having admitted defeat to the client.

One must be familiar with appliance operation. Then one may stand in front of the appliance, look, listen and even smell (if there is a smell present), cross yourself and say a prayer, a little bit of magic and good luck may just be sufficient to cure a fix. I challenge anyone who says he can fix a boiler every time, first time and no call backs ever for the same defect.

Nothing fly about the comments, just plain advice

Anyway, how are you getting on with your defect?

On a Flowmatic, hot water demand will cause the diverter valve to operate to operate triple microswitch assembly. Pump runs. If the boiler has been purged by the auto air vent and white HW heat exchanger is purged, results in flow manifold operating (unless this item has not been serviced and is stuck in the retracted position, in which case the boiler could dry fire). Only then will the fan run to result in burner coming on.

If the burner is already on, it is sufficient to conclude air pockets are not present so purging is not an issue. What is an issue is high temperature of water which would suggests boiler is running full tilt at high flame and no step modulation. I would test this boiler with HW stat at max, flow rate at 9.5l per minute and expect to see 70 on the temperature scale not 80 as posted. I would further check the incoming cold and outgoing hot and expect to see 35 degrees C differential. Up here in Rain City, water can be coming in at 5 degrees C in the winter.

I do not post often, but visit the forums often for education.

Sorry if I stepped on your toes.

To underline the point, run the hot water at reduced flow, say 5-7 litres per minute. You should see the boiler flames going up and down every x seconds, hear a relay click as it does it, and be able to alter the ratio with the thermostat knob.
If the flames ONLY goes full to off and back, the modulation isn't working, due to DHW thermostat, or gas valve adjustment.
I know this because DP told me all about it!

DP. thanks for the advice, wish you well any problems in future i wiil call on your advice, thank's and soory

No probs.

I have no problem helping other RGIs and seeking help from them as well.

We get this kind of thing all the time when we give professional and informed advice on web sites.

People with less knowledge somehow seen to think it benefits them to rubbish the expert giving sensible advice. 90% of people working on boilers are not very competent.

DP does work most of the time on Vokeras and if I even need advice on them then I will always call Danny first. On other makes he calls me!
