hot water works fine, had two pumps fitted in the last 5 years, when on heating only, boiler fires for about 5 mins, then cuts off (not reset, just reaches temp), and then fires every 2/3 mins for about 30 secs, all rads are just luke warm, but flow pipe out of boiler is red hot, return is not even luke warm...

sounding like a circulation problem, (blockage??) what with the pumps and so on, but how can prove that and any tips in finding the bloackage??

or is it totally some thing else..

Sounds like a badly sludged system or a blocked pump impeller.

When previous pumps were changed the system should have been cleaned properly!

Boiler and system was all fitted at same time about 10 years ago.

look in frequently asked questions , if your systems dirty it willcause the pump to fail eventually . Drain some water at a drain point & see how bad it is .Also check the isolation valves are fully open under the boiler on the ch pipes , ive had them shut more than once
