Volt Free Contacts

'Volt Free' or 'Dry' contacts means the device itself does not apply power or a signal to it's output. It usually provides two or three contacts (Common, Normally Open and / or Normally Closed)

The signal is usually provided from somewhere else in the wiring, and connected to the 'common' contact. The device just switches that signal on and off like a switch.

So if you want to hack a controller you can just put a microprocessor controlled relay across the contacts I suppose?

So??????? A relevant question was asked in relation to this thread. Are you saying we cannot ask questions about a thread just because it is old??????? Maybe a new thread would, perhaps, been more appropriate but then all the information would have had to be coppied and pasted to the new thread. A complete pain in the rectum.
