Voltage earth leakage breaker

In a property with an old ELCB - can I simply remove the inbound and outbound earth wires from the unit (its not metal) and just use it as a isolator switch for the time being (feeding a new CU with 100ma RCD and 30ma RCD units. )

Yes, I will tell the local council etc - I think they need 48 hours notice I read somewhere on here? It would just save having to get the REC out until it is convenient!

Should be fine to use it as an isolator, as you are protected by the 100mA RCD.
If anyone is reading this forum and has one of these items they would be well advised to have it replaced with something more reliable.
