Hi all,

Wet day, so time to sort that bathroom extractor fan that hasn't been working for...errr, 5 years! It's a Vortice Lineo 100T V0, 4" timer model.

Electrically, everything looks ok (and certainly hasn't changed since it was installed originally around 15 years ago) but when switched on, the fan is only running at maybe 50rpm (i.e. slow enough to see the fan blades, and certainly too slow to move any meaningful air). I guess I could chuck it away and buy a new one, but first I thought I'd enquire here as to whether anyone has any experience fixing these - namely by replacing the small timer PCB or (what I presume is) the startup capacitor?

The wiring looks correct for "fast" configuration and has 240V on the correct terminals when energised.

Any thoughts before I dash out and drop £100 on a new one?

Replace the capacitor. Mine did the same a few years ago

Quick update - I replaced the capacitor, but this did not fix it. In the end, I replaced the whole thing like for like (this makes it a very easy drop in replacement without disturbing the pipework) and it's all working again.

Is there a wiring diagram on a label on the lid?

Sometimes there is.

EDIT. Too late anyway.

Yes (for the external connections) and it was wired correctly, but still not working. Would have been nice to spend the time to work out why, but just happy to have it replaced and working again!
