I have uplighters fitted in our small flat, a refurbished barn building. They're pretty useless but is no place for ceiling lights.
My plan for the bedroom though is to take out one light and replace with a spotlight bar higher up above the bed. If I want to avoid replastering anything, Is it as simple as extended the wiring circuit from the current fitting and running a new cable up trunking on the wall?

Likely yes, look at lighting track, this makes it look as if designed that way, and allows a larger spread of spotlights. There are large output lights Up-lighter1.jpgUp-lighter2.jpg my wife uses this to help with her crafting, it says something like 50 watts on the box, but measured

at 36 watt, problem is the shade will not fit, the panels can fold down to shine else where, but it is a bit on the bright side.

We also have lights in the display cabinet, 20230227_170703_1.jpg which can be turned to white, we do have ceiling lights, but this is the narrow end of the room, each one of the Ikea Billy bookcases is 1.06 meters wide, so over 6 meters wide at that point, so this chandelier Ceiling light.jpg is not big enough to light whole room, even with 48 watt of LED lighting.

Take plug and flex from socket and wire and fix suitable light to the ceiling, otherwise get sparky to create lighting circuit from the CU and decide which lights you want in each room

Thanks for the replies.
Picture now added.
The socket isn't really an option, I prefer it to be controlled by the wall switch.
