I'm pretty sure this doesn't exist, but I want to make one as space in the workshop is so tight. It needs to be 6 individual shelves, each the exact size to hold a single 3AH 18v Makita battery, so I know which ones are charged.

Best I can come up with is put something together with a few wooden boxes, e.g.: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252175808226.

Just wondered if anyone has solved this problem, or do they just get slung in the toolbox (my strategy up 'till now)?

thanks,
S.

How about something like 3 of these cheap plastic shoe holder things on eBay...

Not sure on the dimensions though, the batteries could just fall straight through! If they fit, you could then colour code so you put fully charged in the green one, half charged in the yellow one and flat in the red one for example.

Gaz :)

Thinking outside the box Gaz, I like it! Unfortunately this would waste a bit of space as I'd have to leave space to lift them out, but it's not a bad idea, as they are about 'shoe size'.

I have chargers on the workbench. Batteries that need charging get dumped by the charger and when they are charged they get put back on a tool.

If you want them on the wall, surely it's not beyond you to knock something up with a bit of mdf or ply or is it more complicated than I'm imagining?

i have long small shelves following the slope off the roof in my shed
side on batteries are easy you can just turn them upside down on the shelve to indicate they need charging
number all you batteries and note the ones that keep getting noticed for being flat
any battery that seems to charge quicker will tend to be holding less charge and visa versa

One vertical timber [ply] mounted to wall, cut 6 holes the dimension of the battery top, pop batteries in from the left when dead and from right when charged, very compact.
