Hello chaps. I've put a wardrobe together (not new) but two of the hinges won't stay fixed, they pop out. The 2 holes in the top of the left door and the two holes in the bottom right of the wardrobe (not door) have obviously lost their integrity. I was going to try stuffing with 2 or 3 cocktail sticks with wood glue on them, break them off flush and screw into that, as I've seen in a video. I've got some 502 PVA wood glue.

Alternatively, I was told that a resin called Rawlplug R-Kem ll would work great and never come out. How would I use it? Do I use a mastic
gun to fill the screw holes with the resin, then screw in the screws to create the threading while the resin is soft, wait till it sets and then unscrew the screws and screw the hinge bracket in?

Yep! but they also sell the hafele one on ebay etc
For the door one check the diameter of your hinge and the obe on ebay are the same...if necessary, ask the seller a question

What I don't get is, and sorry for my ignorance, on the hafele plate for instance, the screws go through the holes of the wardrobe hinge bracket and through he holes of the plate. The plate will obviously be firmly fixed to the carcass but what's going to stop the hinge pulling away from the same threaded holes?

the mending plate has threaded holes to replace the damaged stripped holes
and its securing screws are remote to the damaged area

Ah right, I didn't know the plate holes are threaded. All makes sense now!

So the good news is that I fixed the hinge on the bottom right of the carcass side panel with a Hafele repair plate. The bad news is that I've damaged the outside! I don't get it, the screws are slightly shorter than the width of the panel. Any suggestions on patching it up? It's not that I'll see it that much but I know it's there and it's annoying.

are your cabinet sides perhaps 12mm thick rather than 15mm thick ??

Nope, I make them 15mm. Two of the 4 screws didn't puncture at all. I started the screw holes using a braddle but not so far that the braddle would have done that damage I don't think. Maybe the screws have gone in at a slight angle?

Gently prise off the other bits still stuck, (don't get them mixed up), scrape out the holes a little. dry fit them back into position, to make sure they will sit flush, and then glue the pieces back into place with some PVA. Press firmly into position and gently wipe off any excess adhesive. You may be left with a visible hairline but better than what you have.
