Warning flashing up on car screen

Possibly your diesel vehicle has an "Addblue" system fitted for the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Or, if not the vehicle may need to be regenerated by running to operating temperature and then drive for 20/30 min with the engine revs at around 2500/3000 RPM. This should put the ecu into regen mode. If this fails you may need to see your local garage and get a full diagnostic check to determine whether or not the DPF needs to be cleaned or replaced or even check the sensors.

So gotta drive for 30 mins. Is this serious?

Ok. I must have previously put in a general power steering oil but wanted to put the right one in this time. A customer who was a mechanic was sure it was Dextron maybe 2 and put that in. I'll keep an eye on level.

You can continue to drive, but if you run out of additive (which is not add blue) then the DPF (diesel particulate filter) will clog up and the engine won't run.

It's much cheaper to get the fluid topped up (i believe this is a dealer job) than replace the DPF when it gets clogged and the engine won't run.

If you've only just started getting the warning, you're probably ok for 500 miles or so.

If you've only just started getting the warning, you're probably ok for 500 miles or so.

I'll call Peugeot or my mechanic and get it sorted next week, don't wanna have to replace DPF

The car may use Eolys or adblue.....if it’s a blue line engine then its adblue you need. You must have the correct one!

I can't believe the ****ty manufacturers make adding a consumable fluid a dealer only job. WTF??
 
Only the Eolys stuff - adblue can be filled to the tank by anyone. As an example, consider using 1 litre of adblue per thousand miles......Eolys one tankful every 70,000 miles maybe.
Eolys is claimed to be highly toxic, but I haven't a clue about that one! Both have a shelf life.
The Eolys fluid often comes in it's own tank where it it is introduced to the fuel by a graduated amount - access isn't good and the delivery method has to be reset.
I have come across a vehicle where the Eolys was in it's own pouch...a Peugeot I think but I can't remember which model that was. The pouch was starting to degrade though!

How do you know if your car needs adblue or Elys or none at all? I have a 2013 Golf.
A car of that age is unlikely to need adblu. Most cars requiring adblu have a separate tank with a filler next to the fuel filler and will put a message up on your dash when it needs topping up which will be every 10-20k miles. The Eolys system has a much greater distance between fills.

2013 Peugeot expert van. Thought the bloke on phone said ad blue, but if sign says needs repair should get it looked at. Trying to book it in next week with mechanic
 
Clutch seems stiffer than previously, I'll mention that too
