washer-dryer won't dry

My washer-dryer (Indesit) recently stopped drying properly. After the washing cycle, the drying cycle starts but when it is finished the clothes are still wet. Tried first programming a wash cycle only, then a drying cycle only - if anything, the drying cycle actually makes the clothes even wetter (so then had to a do an extra spin cycle). Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Are they coming out hot or cold?

Probably an open stat. On a rare occation the inlet valve is faulty and letting in too much water at start of drying cycle, it should let in 0.5l but sometimes let's in too much.
