I've been busy and no time to put one of the flat's washing lines up. Will I have to take the old pole out and put new one in or is there a quicker solution to cut either the receiving or entering pole down with angle grinder or reciprocating saw?

Banging the ground anchor in properly will do the job
By ground anchor u mean pole sticking out the ground? If you mean that I don't think hitting it with a hammer will lower it. Been there ten years in concrete

If the ground anchor won't shift, reduce the height of the pole using an angle grinder and slitting disc.
John :)

Took out this section. Dunno if it's too low now. I measured one elsewhere atc147cm from ground to underside of top when fully extended so maybe should copy that

Wanna get a dewalt angle grinder, wha j recommend? Something small to start with

Gotta wonder how often you'll use it, if you're a trader and not had to buy one until now then do you really need a Dewalt? Plenty S/H on Marketplace or from the likes of Aldi etc as mentioned. I have Titan, works just fine for occasional use.

I found that after I'd bought my first 4" grinder jobs just kept popping up for it.

I'm a big fan of Lidl/Aldi power tools: amazing value and they have a habit of fitting really long leads.
