I have an AEG 72630 w/m that trips out when you try to wash with any program that requires warm/hot water. It seems to trip out when the water starts to be heated.I took the heater out and tested it and it seems to have a small amount of earth leak. What sort of reading would cause it to trip ,if this were the fault.
It runs right through the cycle when set on a cold water wasdh
Thanks

Have fitted new heater and it still trips out at exactly the same time on any hot wash cycle.
Could it be that it is sited in the garage ( has been since last April ) but could the cold be anything to do with it ?

doubt it, i still say it is the heater, or something to do with the heater.

look at it this way. no heater, works fine. heater comes on it trips.

what is the fuse rating /mcb that actually trips?

Its the 30mA RCD control which unfortunately is the main incomer on the consumer unit. Can you suggest any other way of testing it. I`ve tested the new heater and it seems to be ok.

you realy need a "mega" to find the problem.

hust had a thought unplug it and point a vacuum cleaner at the motor (they have some funny ways of wiring a w.m.)

but still look near heater connections

I do have a mega, apart from the heater itself what else can i test?

E-L, L-N from the plug , then its a process of ilimination  it has to be something to do with the heater, or its wiring
