The Tories yesterday welcomed a 'significant concession' from the Government to trial home sellers packs before they become compulsory nationwide.
A new clause allows Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott to scrap the packs, expected to cost £350 to £1,000 each, after rigorous research and testing in the trials.
I think this will be a waste of time and money !!
I spoke to a 'solicitor' and a Surveyor. The consensus is the old 'Caveat Emptor' 'Let the buyer beware' .. remains the corner stone.
'Would you pay me several hundred thousand for something ... on my reccomendation ?"
So I make preliminary decision to buy house, read the log.... Then what ? .. Then I go on to do what I would have done anyway get my own reports and I would expect my Lawyer and Surveyor to act in my best interest because I am paying for it !!
Likewise why should I expect anyone working for the seller to have my best interests at heart ? More to the point could I afford to litigate against them in the case of possible incorrect information ?
So there we go ..seller pays for Lawyer and Surveyor, then I do the same = same job (but better, hopefully) done twice at double the cost = richer lawyers & richer surveyors.
Be the same as MOT ... Ok at the time it was looked at, 'past condition is no guarantee of future condition'.
Another good but impracticable idea ... hence the trial, because the DPM is now unsure that he has his finger on anything, other than his hand !!
All they ever said about Labour party is coming true !!
So come on berate me, then think when buying your mr Law says 'If you follow the log, then I take no responsibility for the repercussions' ... What will you do ?
