Hi all.

I have recently moved into a mid terrace property and am experiencing water hammer. Some is the usual type when the washer demands water and the toilet is flushed etc. I am also experiencing random periods of banging when nothing is being used. This can be at random times of the day or night, it will sound the same each time, 9 bangs in a row in the same pattern without fail. I’m no expert plumber but I can also hear the water running to our neighbours house, when they use it, if I stand near the stop tap in our downstairs toilet.
To add more detail, when we moved in we put a new combi boiler in to replace the old gravity fed unit with a water tank. Our shower pipes are fed from that direction. When the water is using water or when even when the water is not being used the shower pipes sound like they are pulsing and creaking.

I know there is a lot to take in but any help will be appreciated.

Thank you

Try a water hammer arrestor.
Seen one that fitted to washing machine pipe. Probably want a good one fitted to main pipework
