WC pan connector

Hi,

I'm planning to put a WC+sink vanity unit in bathroom, and the soil pipe needs to exit at the side.

Can I use a pan connector with integral pipe boss horizontally (parallel with floor), or must they only be used so that the waste drops into the soil pipe from the top?

If it's allowed into the side, should a use a special anti-syphon trap for the basin?
