What am I doing wrong?

hi coljack....
set square measurment with measured part put into machine is the way to go...
all those marks on the former are because you have the measured bit sticking out and it stretches by different amounts depending on the pipe wall thickness

i reckon 1 out of 30 do it correctly, fully to +/-1mm which is do-able

if you only need a 450mm bend on the end of a conduit, there's no way you can do it with the measured bit in the vice and the remaining 3m+ hanging in free air..

so you have to learn both ways..

there is no "correct" way to do it.. whichever way works for you is the right way.. just because someone showed you one way doesn't make everyone elses wrong.

hi coljack,
fair comment, sort of....
the official line, as you know is to put the 450mm in on the bottom of the former and bend it upwards
on friday, as i said earlier, i am doing some pre AM2 thingies with a young lad....he has to install a piece of pipe with one set and two bends in one piece-ill try my best:cool:

best wishes
alan

last time I did that I managed to short out a crane and melt about a foot of conduit off the end..
the crane picked up it's power from catenary wires on wooden blocks rather than the new track busbars..
