Hi all,

I'm near to finishing my kitchen, and i'm doing the cornice and pelmet on the wall units. I'm having trouble getting them to sit straight.

I have looked on the net and someone said that modesty blocks should be used. I have found a picture and have seen these in the local DIY shed.

Can someone please explain how these will help me fit and straighten my cornice.

Thanks

I don't think they will help with the cornice, they are really only any good for pelmet.

If you are having difficulty pulling the joints up tight try these

Is cornice top or bottom? Its the bottom one i'm having trouble with. The top one is ok cos its own weight keeps it nice and flat.

Its not the corners its keeping it from tilting.

Cornice is at the top of the upper cabs, light pelmet is at the bottom of the upper cabd and plinth is at the bottom of the lower cabs. I tend to glue my joints together using a 2-part spray/gel adhesive such as Mitre Mate and then screw the pelmets into place using small steel angle plates
