.....of removing the tail and using just the elbow with some loctite 55?

This is a temporary setup to get us through the winter but I'd rather it stuck out a bit less.

Not something I'd recommend doing.

Yeah, should be ok - the male elbow should be 1/2" so should fit the tapping of the rads without issue. I use gas PTFE others use cord, whatever works.

Seems ok, I used some of that green flomaster pipe seal in the end. I think ones piped back to front as it was a lot slower to warm up and it's still slightly cool where the flow enters, I think I'll swap it round tomorrow and see if it improves.
