What are you drinking tonight?

Had to pop over to West London today for work and as I was near Westfield Shopping centre, I called in to get some bits from Mark's. The place is absolutely massive - I had trouble just finding my way out of the store, let alone the shopping centre! On my way out, I saw a Jay feeding on berries in a tree outside the shopping centre. I drew a bit of a crowd while I was taking pictures - one person thought it was a parrot!

Is this your roast? Looks a similar size.
Abusive posts? In a light hearted thread? What’s up with people?

Finished off some Prosecco while cooking the Sunday roast and then started on a bottle of Alvarinho. I cooked extra sprouts, spuds and parsnips so that I can have some bubble with my egg and bacon for tomorrows breakfast after my dog walk. With a bit of luck, there may even be a glass or two of wine left over to wash it down with. ;)

They have to guarantee a minimum temperature to keep bacteria away.

Yes, I used to go in the local to me carvery, which would often as not ruin the food under the too hot lights, and see them regularly checking the temperatures of there food on display. The one I presently favour, I have never seen them check the temperatures, however....

I have always been a slow eater [1], always last to finish, so I do insist my food is served hot and on a heated plate. I notice no differences in temperature between the two carveries.

[1] I was always the last one to finish my plate, at dinners.

Nah. She's the worlds slowest eater - apart from her mum and her sister! Meals take bloody ages with them.

I don't even know why I eat so slowly, but everything has to be well chewed before I can bring myself to swallow it. It also seems a bit of an insult to the cook, to not fully enjoy what you are eating. I have always really struggled to get pills down my neck.

It's no bad thing to live a more unhurried life. Apparently less stress makes you live longer..

I too have struggled with pills, and with food that fragments into small pieces (like peanuts). I now, rather than use a drink, chew up a mouthful of bread, stuff the pill inside the bread and swallow it. The bigger mass makes it easier and I'm not left with a sensation that a pill is stuck sideways in my throat somewhere

Carménère with our beef casserole and dumplings tonight. I wouldn’t buy anything this strong but my mate gave it to me. It was 14% which is usually too strong for Mrs Mottie but she actually enjoyed it, as did I. (y)

Having a glass or two of last nights Pinot while Mrs Mottie is out collecting her mum and I’m preparing the Sunday roast for when the family come over. Of course, I’ll have to open a bottle of something else later…..

I’m left cleaning up the kitchen while Mrs Mottie runs her mum home. Moved on to a Cotes de Gascogne that our daughter brought round. I think I’ll have one more glass while the wine Nazi is out! ;)
