What are you having for breakfast?

When my folks ran a golf club, my mum used to mix margarine into the butter to make it go further in sandwiches

It's Blackberry season.

Lots of benefits including being very good for Type 2 diabetes and controlling your blood sugar levels.

Blackberries are one of the best fruits for type 2 diabetes. One cup contains 62 calories, 13.8 grams of carbohydrates, and 7.6 grams of fiber. Thanks to the high fiber content, blackberries will cause less of a blood sugar spike than some other fruits.
And they are free, the exercise will also benefit you.

They're one of my favourite fruits: packed full of good things. You must've found an early batch; or did you get 'em from a supermarket?
I should check on my brambles to see how they're getting on...

Got them from the top. Most probably get the sun all day. About 5³⁰am this morning

My B.berries are still green n' growing. Another month and they'll blush with juice. Usually they're ready around the end of August, right through to Samhain in a good year. At that rate of ripeness from south to north the scots should have theirs by Christmas.

Nice.
Best time o' the day to find 'em, too. I usually don't see them til August but maybe a few earlies have popped up. I'll take the long way round the lane today to see what's what.

I love the mornings. Can be tough getting up at ½4 5⁰/c but it sets me up for a better day.

I went Gym.this morning so had to rely on my garden Raspberries & Blackberries. They are not as fuel free as the meadow picked berry's.

Cultivated blackberries are the best. One of my allotment neighbours grows mainly fruit - blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, gooseberries etc. she makes jars and jars of jam which they sell in our allotment trading hut. All the proceeds from her jam go to a charity that helped care for her grandson who died very young. The blackberries she grows are massive and because they are cultivated blackberries, they have no thorns on them - absolutely packed full of flavour too.

I've just come in from throwing crust crumbs out for the Daws and picked a few raspberries along the way: dew fresh berries - very moreish.
Cultivated b.berries are good but i like them wild and the challenge of reaching the ripe one right at the back: thorns be damned!
