What do we think?

BAS, OT to the OP but how do you find brand-rex cable.
Oh - you find it sort of lying around the place when offices you work in are being refurbished...

And no - I didn't just blag it when no-one was looking - when the installers got to the end of a 1000' reel and what was left wasn't long enough for runs in open-plan offices, they chucked it out - wasn't worth their time trying to sort and keep odd lengths to use if they needed a short run.

Why is there no patch lead in the network port? I assume the network cable from that port is hard wired directly into the clockcard? So by now I assume you have a cable from the new wall port to one of your original ports in the dado or similar? Thats a little crappy.
Yes, they run in the same conduit, they were pulled through together. The mains cable is 2.5mm² twin and earth.

The cable from the back of the port goes up the wall, straight to the kronos.

I should clarify, the Kronos came with a standard IEC lead, as on a computer. They cut it in 2, one half goes from the back of the Kronos to the FCU above it, and the other half is pictured in the office. 2.5mm² runs between the two FCUs.

There will be a patch lead from the port to the store's switch (under the desk pictured), in order that head office can dial in and obtain information / so the unit can transmit. Why they didnt fit one, I dont know. All the other units I've seen in nearby stores are lit up too. Ours aint. I heard today our store will be one of the last to go live - 2500 stores are having these fitted. No mean feat.

* Random 13A plug, going to an FCU (what's the point of the second fuse?) - having something plug in isn't disastrous, but no point having it fused twice.
As a guess, I would imagine a 13A fuse in the plug, and then that supplies other FCU's next to individual items of equipment each rated at 3A. Same principle as a 100A cutout might supply a CU with say two 32A MCB's.

Is the cable coming out the box in a cable outlet, or have they just made a hole in the box and poked it through?.
Looks to me as if they have used the FCU's flex outlet with cable clamp for the supply. Suppose it's some sort of reverse logic!

It's not erm. exactly right, but can't say it would pose a safety risk to anyone.

Steve - whatever you do DO NOT let your employers know (or colleagues for that matter ... they could rat on you) that you've made these enquiries (& post pics ... most of the writing on the Post-its can be read with the Windows Magnifyer). They'll get you for contract violations and you could get disciplined; after all they have started with the process of making your life at work more stressful by installing this device ... all part of aggressive management tactics. Deny all knowledge if asked.
