What DON'T you want for christmas?

After returning here from having a break I don't want to see the personal insults carrying on.
If you have a different point of view then state it without the personal diatribes that sometimes 'hijack' what may be a very good post by someone.

OK, so I may be a boring B to some but there is enough animosity in the world without pointlessly adding to it.

i personally do not want gluttony or excess
i normally have a kebab or other "treat" at xmass as thats what i enjoy :D
i do not do commercial as my son is 20
i look after my friends all year not just at xmass
xmass is great and i fully enjoy it but not the false "materialistic "side
so many people borrow at xmass and payback over the year at 40% interest or more with the tally men/women
these are often the poorest in society going from poverty to abject poverty for no other reason than commercial pressure

Another appalling X-factory Xmas single

Boxing day sales

Gift buying 'etiquette'

TakeThat-soundtracked TV ads selling 'fresh, fresh, british fresh, british, british, fresh fresh fresh, did we forget to say fresh?' produce.

Pre-packed, pre dressed, ready-to-microwave christmas dinner trimmings.

3 for 2 offers on pointless **** that i don't want to buy, and that nobody wants to receive.

3 grands worth of lights, plastic reindeer, and a blow up homer simpson santa strapped to the outside of some dole-dosser's house.

ginger bloke on the radio telling me to buy some charity single (great cause, awful song btw) every 4 seconds.

The general socio-econimic materialistic norm that makes otherwise pleasant kids think that 3000 item christmas lists are acceptable, and otherwise sane parents think that they are innadequate if they do not fulfil their child's 3000 item christmas list.

The complete and utter purging of Jesus Christ from Christmas.

And many other things that have, to a greater or lesser degree, destroyed christmas.
Not a bah humbug post btw, I love christmas, i just don't like what it has become.

To be told by others who don't believe in god, go to church,or even realise that Christmas is a rip off from Paganism that I'm some sort of Scrooge/Grinch for not being a f***ing sheep....Maybe I should celebrate Hanukah this year?

I'm having a f-ing big bonfire tomorrow after midnight, the Winter solstice actually means something to me, the shortest day has arrived and summer will be on it's way(well, after about another 7 weeks of seemingly just as short days!)

I have no tree or decorations(well, living in a forest clearing of pine trees it seems obscene to cut a young sapling down to put inside my house for a week or two, especially as 9 fully grown ones were blown over last week in the garden, a thing that seems to have been missed by all my neighbours who are blindly repeating the "tradition" to keep their brats happy....!)

We will be having some friends over for a feast of sorts(another bonfire and a p*ss up too!) on Sunday but that baby Jesus f*cker won't be getting a mention....

It's a pity so many people pander to the peer pressure and buckle. Just look at the "annual" events designed to keep florists and card manufacturers in business...after this it's Valentines, easter, mothers/fathers day, summer weddings, autumn/winter funerals...a big f*kin scam, that's what it is

Nail, head, hit it in one - I'm with you fella.
How the feck can companies charge crazy money for cards etc. As for celebrating in the Christian way - go feck yourself. I don't believe and will celebrate in my own way and don't need some self righteous do gooder to tell me how to. Religion - shove it

Then if you don't believe in Christmas what have you got to 'celebrate?
Do you 'celebrate' other religious festivals which you don't believe in or is it because you live in a Christian country that you 'celebrate' the non-existence of Christianity?

Not a dig at anyone, just a serious question.

By the way, I agree with the 'commercial' point of view that things have got out of hand and it is plainly a profiteering strategy.

Christmas or should I say Xmas has nothing to do with christianity and was appropriated by them to enhance their bs fairy tale.

In fact the whole nativity is nicked from the romans!

Hello guys,

I realy don't want any more boxed sets of aftershave , shaving gel and deodorant , closely followed by boxers and socks. I think the message they are giving is "You smell pretty bad , and your personal hygiene needs seeing to".

:D exactly!!

A bottle of Bushmills is much more welcome.

iPhone 4 is much more welcome for me.

Cheers,
Lewis

I was asked to help out at a work function on Monday night for a villages annual carol concert(putting out chairs, setting up a couple of mini ovens, doing fire escape duty etc) and I sort of realised as I watched members of this "community" gather once a year that it was mainly senior citizens- maybe younger folk just don't have the time, have seen through the scam and control mechanisms, or maybe it's just as folk get nearer to what they believe may be their time, they start worrying, resume religious activities "just in case" there really is a god??!!.
I, in all seriousness, am really starting to think that anyone who believes in religion, and more specifically organised religion on a world scale, must be veering towards being a bit mentally ill, or are just too weak to take control for their own lives and decisions, preferring to kneel by the bed or put on their best gear each Sunday(to impress a god who obviously appreciates a well fitted suit or nice frock) and essentially BEG for their lives to not turn to s*it. I mean, to invest so much time and effort into having "faith" something exists is crazy in my view. A lot of the really zealous types have usually got backgrounds of abuse/self abuse and serious addiction and they just transfer it all over to this new addiction- god and being saved.
I don't believe in Divine intervention, Creationism or Evolution anymore...something altogether more plausible called Intervention Theory. But then maybe I'm the crackers one, who knows...

Whilst I agree to a few of your opinions you have missed out one major point.

Freedom of choice.

There your arguments fall short, as all are allowed that.

@ Chinablue777

to have to read anymore of your really pointless Cr@p threads

Well don't read them !! It's very simple really!!. This is how it works. A member posts threads that you don't like or maybe fully understand. With me so far?. The solution is to make a mental note not to read any further posts or threads from the member that is causing you distress.. There we go !!!. All sorted for you !!!
