Yes

But under EU rules / law live animals had to be exported for slaughter

They could not be slaughtered in the UK and than exported as a carcass or what ever

Some of these animals were than exported from those EU countries to fruit cakes countries like dire ear a Stan for ritual slaughter
Well they've had 2 years, and still nothing.
No specific date has been given for the implementation of these rules changes,

It also ignores the very real fact, that in some cases journeys to France and Belgium are shorter than journeys within UK to slaughter houses.
Also, there is now a shortage of people working in slaughter houses, so many animals are having to be killed on farms and burnt, which is stupidly wasteful and damaging the economy and the environment.
So it's an ideological decision, not a rational decision.

To be fair you don't need to travel out of the EU to be ashamed at the barbaric treatment of animals.
Here in England we are well known for blood sports.
In Spain the abuse of bulls is totally immoral and they even throw donkey's around for fun.
who is it that supports the blood sports ? Labour or Tory ?

Are you still trying to say it was an EU backed idea ?

And it was those foreigners at fault ?
The horse-meat scam was nothing to do with the EU. In fact it involved crooks from three different countries including the UK. Foreigner-haters trans and filly are just yanking your chain. The UK meat industry is as cruel to animals as any.
