What have you been doing today?

Just changed front pads and disc and offside front caliper on the nissan, was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.

When looking at the state of the bolts etc I wasn't hopeful the banjo bolt was going to come out on the brake hose, I then thought the brake hose at the other end doesn't look good either so i set myself up for a long day.

Turned out all came apart super easy, the impact gun helped though, had it all done in an hour,

Went up Sainsbury’s to get some bits for when the kids come round and got back the three quid they overcharged me in the week. Bonus was that the woman that overcharged me was on the customer service counter and as I was explaining it to her you could see that she realised she was the one that made the error but she must have thought that I didn’t recognise her so she was all “Oh dear, I can see what’s happened".

Had the kids and grandkid round for lunch and received some very nice Father’s Day pressies from them. A rather nice bottle of Chianti and a voucher for a four course meal kit from Angela Hartnets restaurant from my daughter and a nice framed photograph secretly taken from behind of me walking along with my grandson on one side of me holding my hand and my dog on a lead on the other side plus a couple of tickets for me and Mrs Mottie to go to the South Bank theatre in October to see Tim Peake give a talk on his journey into space.

I was too full up to have a Sunday roast so I just cooked the chicken and had a snack - chicken and crisps with a few pickles on the side. At the moment I’m boiling the remains of the carcass up with some carrots, celery and onion to make a stock and I will be using it up tomorrow in a chicken and pea risotto.

All in all, a very nice day. I love my family. I’m so, so lucky.

Ikea ..... Girls are getting rooms to themselves so doing a recci. Took our minds off losing our Dog yesterday. After 14 years she just had enough. We had her put to sleep... Heart breaking.

Not Lilly? So sorry to hear that Bodd. It is absolutely heartbreaking when that happens. I remember filling up when I picked up our Susie as a pup 9 years ago knowing that one day I’ll have to do the kindest thing. You can only console yourself with the fact that you gave her a long and happy life.

The hard thing was that she picked up in the vets. He gave her a biscuit and she loved it.. my girls broke their hearts.

Not Lilly? So sorry to hear that Bodd. It is absolutely heartbreaking when that happens. I remember crying when I picked up our Susie as a pup 9 years ago knowing that one day I’ll have to do the kindest thing. You can only console yourself with the fact that you gave her a long and happy life.

She lived a great life. She chased Kangaroos, Wallabies and even a small Dingo. Had a tree snake in her mouth traveled by boat to Tassie and back. Been on a plane via Singapore to the UK. Loved to swim in the UK. Hated Swimming in Aus.

what have you been doing today?

Experimenting with a Thai spiced filling for a smoked salmon terrine, coronation chicken made using fresh mango and freshly roasted and ground spices, and the potatoes for an "aloo chat" salad, in prep for a visit in a couple of weeks from the COs brothers who we havent seen for over a year.

Bricklaying until the rain soaked through to my underwear then I threw in the towel.

Once you get to that stage you get more productive, as you no longer need to take breaks....
