What have you been doing today?

Went to Tatton Park for some fresh air

Just starting to leave Knutsford and the clutch went!

Sitting in the dark waiting for GEM.

156,525 miles. Not too shabby!

I've done absolutely nothing for a week, should really feel a tad guilty but I don't!.

Doesn't happen very often so making the most of it.

Took a bike out just, you know, to clear its airways. Resolved to leave it now until we get a blue sky.

I had a Volvo estate many years ago, got to 240,000 miles on the first clutch. It only failed when the gearbox shaft seal went and soaked it in oil.
I bought a complete clutch kit with DMF for our Golf a few months ago. 112,000 on the clock. £250. It got better just after that so haven't fitted it. Away in it at the moment and joy of joy it's juddering on pull away. Might get round to fitting it soon but it's going to cost me £12.50 to run it up to my own workshop as I'm in the ULEZ. Bloomin' cheek.

Ahah! You're one of the "Got to buy the expensive flywheel" Wolfsburg big pharma dominated sheeple.

My Hondahoncho master is making his clutch slip once in a few hundred miles, always a long trip... then it's fine....:cautious:

At 100,000 plus miles, you'd be either a fool or a tight **** to change just the pressure plate and disc and not the DMF while the 'box is out.

We’ve got our SEAT Leon 1.9D in the garage right now for that very thing. We took it to the SEAT dealer this morning, they want just short of 2,000€ to change the whole shooting match, they wanted 60€ just to look at the car.
We took it to another place, he’s doing the job as I type.
He’s Whatsapped us some pictures of the job so far, they are on the missus’ phone but I’ll try to post them later.
I couldn’t agree more with doing it all when the box is out, at my time of life I don’t want to be pulling heavy boxes out every six months. When I were a lad, I would do that for fun but no more. Besides, I have no tools here.

Surprised to hear that Honda say it isn't necessary, they don't routinely change them on a fixed price clutch replacement. Hmmm.o_O
Then again, OEM part price is half the value of the car.

Looks like the same clutch as on our Golf 1.9D. Comes as a full kit already assembled with the DMF and you just bolt it onto the crank through those holes in the pressure plate fingers. Judging by the colour of the box in your picture, you are getting a Sachs kit too.

Yes, I’m sure it will the same clutch as yours and, it’s also a complete kit from Sachs.
The original clutch lasted about 200,000Km, despite her rather aggressive driving style which she denies and thinks is the proper way to drive. It’s like being on an old wooden roller coaster when she drives. Nuff said, that’s a whole other topic.

Without warning?

Did it collapse?

Usually they let you know.
Funny story.

Couldn't get it working for love nor money.

Our mechanic said to top up the res. to the Max (it was only a few milliltres off) pump the clutch like mad and try it again.

The ************* worked....

It's with him now so he can investigate.

But it has been playing up for a while. Pedal makes god-awful squeaking and creaking noises and it slips sometimes. There is also a bad judder felt from the cabin when you put your foot on the F/N/S wheel arch. When we were coming back from London, we got a guy in Oxford to inspect it and he couldn't see anything obviously wrong.

Sounds like you might have something broken and floating about in there like Stivino's one - possibly a clutch plate finger or spring?
