I'd rather remove my testicles with a blunt spoon. :mrgreen:

The hardest bit is the individual 'splines' on the grills.

The toughest bit is the roof of the oven.

The scariest bit is the dismantled glass components of the doors. Imagine breaking one of those two days before you cook for 10 hungry people.:oops:

Mrs Mottie has gone down to see to her mum on her regular Friday look-after day. She left just after 1.30 and won't be back till 6.00ish by the time she's put her tea on so I took the opportunity as soon as she left to dash out, hop on a train, go to Westfield, Stratford, and get her final Christmas pressie. She's got a couple already that I let her choose (new coat and some earrings) and she warned me "Nothing else"! but I never listen and I do like to give her a few surprise presents. I know she'll tell me off on the day and will be annoyed but only for a while. If I'm being truthful, it’s a present for me too. ;) I've left it late this year but my shopping is now done. I've told her not to get me anything other than what she has bought me so far but I know she‘ll get me a couple of little surprises too - she always does. Right, that’s it, shopping done!

Once the door is open, there are two small levers attached to the hinges which you push towards the door until they stop. You then attempt to close the door, at which point those levers act as stops and ease the door hinges away from the body of the oven. Keep hold of the door handle!

EDITED: The levers are moved towards the door not the body of the oven, sorry.

Well I never! Just tried that on ours and off came the door. Every day is a school day as they say. (y)
 
Near Christmas Eve disaster! Heard a gurgling from our kitchen sink and (this has happened before) waste water started gurgling up the wastes. Very, very quickly. I just managed to put both plugs in and hold them down as it was starting to overflow onto the worktop! After a while, the blockage cleared and the water went as quick as it came. Mrs Mottie had just had a bath, was in her jammies and was halfway through painting her nails and managed to chuck a load of towels on the worktop and on the floor. She's just finished clearing out the under sink cupboard and bleaching everything down. To make thing worse, after a while I realised that I was wearing my favourite watch and it was submerged in warm, foul water. I rinsed and dried it off. It has a crystal caseback but I can’t see any water or condensation inside so I think I’ve got away with no damage. What a start to Christmas!

Edit: Just noticed (in that picture!) it’s waterproof to 100m so should be okay. I didn't think the Speedmaster (unlike the Seamaster) was water resistant although luckily I had a waterproof strap on and not my leather one.




I've started another thread on the plumbing section asking for advice so if anyone can give advice, it’s HERE.

Update: Near Christmas morning disaster! Same again with the drains. Heard a gurgle and up it started coming.Was prepared for it this time though - both plugs in, weighted down with a few patio bricks. Our neighbour has the same problem. Thames water notified and will try to get here within 2 hours but could be any time up to 9.00 tonight. Good job we've not got people coming round today and will have to put off going out tonight if they haven’t been by the time we leave. Luckily our next door but one neighbour is away on a cruise and we hold the keys for her. I’ve checked her sink and drains and they are fine so I took the opportunity to get rid of this mornings big boy in her bathroom. :ROFLMAO:

The water can still come up through the overflow.
 
If you have a manhole close to some ground you can dig over, lift the lid. Sewage spills are quickly consumed by soil bacteria.
