We have removed a concrete base where an old conservatory used to stand (as in another thread) and have found this square of concrete with a gap in the centre.

What is it likely to be? Could it be an old drain that we need to leave alone? Or is it something we can break up?

We did intend to fit a fence post in this spot so to do that would need to remove it but only if it were nothing important.

What are the dimensions of that hole? It looks as if a larger hole has been dug, a timber placed in it and then the hole has been back-filled with concrete.

Returned home for the night, but roughly the outer concrete I'd say is probably about 250mm and the width of the inner hole maybe 80mm something like that ish? Complete estimate.

Gateway to Narnia ? or perhaps its an old fence post....
May have hit the nail on the head?

How wide would an opening be below that gutter down pipe for a drain etc?

Got the breaker in there and indeed turned out to be where an old fence post stood. Now removed. Thanks all.
