living in the country, we had plenty of wood for heating and hot water, just had to harvest it and saw it up.

Horse and cart most weekend picking up the dead wood, then stacked under cover for 3 year rotation.

We had an 8ft double handed saw, one body on each end, you pull, they pull, used to cut 3-4foot trees into 8in chumps then get a gert big axe and wedges to split it up.

The good old days :cool:
