Hi All,

Got a friend (with his gas) coming round on Thursday morning to fit my cooker but as he's coming before 'work' he's asked me to make sure i have all the materials so he can do the job.

Currently the 15mm gas pipe is capped by another plumber and behind the kitchen base units to the left of the new cooker.

The kitchen fitters cut a hole in the back making the pipe accessible (but not great) and the valve below it.

What do i need for him to do the work...I dont know how he would connect the hose to the pipe so don't know what he needs.

I currently have a cooker hose but do i also need a wall plate? If so, can you recommend one - accessibility isnt great, i cant imagine him soldering with two arms in the base unit!

Anythign else I'll need?

Cheers

Ask your mate what he needs and go and get it for him.
You will never get a reply on gas work on this forum as it's against the rules.

Throw the cooker hose in the bin. Get yourself a length of green garden hose. Green colour will ensure you are complying with green issues :D

dp i have been using those new flexible hoses that expand when the gas is used and then shrink when the gas is not in use
does this mean im not complying?

Hoses have to be green. Expansion is good too as you use less gas because the flame will be bigger (more` volume of gas in the hose). Cycle tube is far better as expansion is 0.33 times volume squared. ;)

We don't know what you'll need, and neither does your mate until he arrives on site. If he's a competent tradesman he'll have anything he's likely to need on the van.

If he's coming before work then you need to supply (a) tea or coffee (b) bacon roll (c) tea or coffee in flask for elevenses (d) second bacon roll to eat on way to work (e) danish pastry for elevenses.

Quite impressed your friend is bringing his gas. Saves on your bill.

(Thought I'd get in before Agile). ;)

DAN, going green is name of the game, eco friendly too. Ochre yellow is so yesterday. Move on with the times young man:cool:
