What products that your family regularly bought growing up would you never buy today?

Knights Castile was posh soap.

Broad beans.
The ones the Germans call Dicke Bonen.

What was the fizzy soft drink which came in a glass bottle with a long conical pimply upper section. Began witha C I think.
Not Lucozade.

And it has appeared in a great deal more products than just sandwich pastes.
Burgers, sausages, pies and hot dogs.

In some, yes and it's horrid - I avoid like the plague. It's especially disgusting, in chicken kievs, which I will not buy if it is MRM. For some reason it is prolific in kievs, though never in hunter's chicken. I managed to track down a pair of proper kievs last week, in Aldi, made from whole breast - loverly.

I used to love the smell of coal tar soap.

Might but some later

Wright's coal tar soap?

It's not the same product as it used to be -it used to be a see through amber colour, now it's opaque and a different formula. I buy it from Home Bargains. I use it in the bath and as soon as the dog hears me pick it up, she comes running in - she loves the taste of it. She doesn't react like that to any other soaps.

I use liquid soap too, as I find it much easier to use with my CP.

I used to use coal tar soap and at school they sold Knights Castile.

The guy in the school shop refused to sell it to anyone who asked for Knights Castle....

I also used to buy Zest soap, don't know if that is still around.

And my Gran used to buy Imperial Leather soap and Gibbs SR toothpaste, initials I later saw on the back of a Nova...

Snuff! My Grandad used to snort it like an addict.

I don't know if you can still get this (as in the original product), but I used to love the smell of creosote when I was a boy. Mum used to treat the garage with it, happy days!

Yep, I used to buy detailed maps of areas I intended spending time in, now I just rely on the satnav, googlemaps on the phone. I still sometimes buy a road atlas, just for a general picture of the area.

I used to buy a lot of hobby magazines - car, electronics and computer mags. I never buy those now..
