What size drill bit to get 2.5mm flex cable through masonry wall?

More reliable to hardwire it as a spur, with a DP switch on the inside so you can safely isolate it.

Or you could drill through the back of the indoor socket box.

Is the circuit RCD protected?

Thanks for the advice.

To be honest, I am not looking for the 'best' or 'more reliable' way to wire the outdoor socket.

I just want it to work and to ensure that the installation meets current electrical regulations/ standards.

I see outdoor socket as just a glorified extension lead, which we plug into sockets all day.

By attaching the end of the wire to a plug as opposed to hardwiring, it's less work, I can easily isolate the power from the dodgy neighbour and I can stick a smart plug on the end which opens up more possibilities.

The circuit is RCD protected.

Not the best way
I would also say why? I have the outside sockets plugged in so any water ingress easy to simply unplug, and also can make dead while on holiday, and can use energy monitor to see when items like car battery charger have finished. Or plug in a smart adaptor to turn outside lights plugged in on/off.

As to hole size this PDF gives outside diameter I tend however to use a short length of hose pipe, need around 22 - 24 mm drill bit for a 20 mm conduit, and most SDS drill sets seem to stop at 20 mm, so hose pipe slightly smaller so no need to buy special drill.
