Hi,

What size piece of MDF should I get to create the shape and size?

The max width I can find is 2200mm , so will it need to be created out of two pieces?

Just wondered how you would go about this. It's to replace a damaged side of a staircase.

Thanks

That's a very shallow staircase.
Personally, I'd use 6mm ply rather than mdf. It is stronger and imo, gives a better finish, assuming you countersink, backfill and sand the screw holes plus, prime, undercoat and gloss (sanding between coats).

Thank you. It is an old Victorian staircase and the previous owner had placed a stud wall next to the stairs. when we removed the wall the side was missing and just a piece of damaged plasterboard sits there now in the shape and size I posted.

I assume all sheets come in mostly width of 2200mm. Is plywood as easy to work with as MDF?

Comes in 1.2m x 2.4m. Personally I prefer ply. You'll need all the proper tools whatever you do unless you're going to cover wonky cuts and gaps with trim etc

i would guess looking at the drawing that the door is on the left
well yes i worked that bit out as without a winder or landing at the top [lhs] the full height would be around 8ft/2440mm so at just over 4ft high is part off the story its more my brain is trying to work efficient use off materials so iff more areas being tackled then a sheet plan with best juggling required for best use(y)

That looks like it'll easily come out of a single sheet (1220 x 2440). Just put the 1651 dimension along the 2440 edge.

Did you draw it to scale to come up with that ;). What's the dim across from the corner then, perpendicular to the sloped side?
Funny how one automatically looks at things in up/down and side to side only. Well I did anyway lol!
