I've just had a clay gully and underground drain replaced due to breakage. The new gully and grate is plastic and a totally different shape and size to the original. Thing is now the downpipe doesn't sit comfortably over the new gully, so I've figured an anti-splash shoe or dog end will sort it by bringing the pipe further over the grate.

The downpipe is cast iron and 65mm diameter.

I can't work out if I need a 75mm or a 63mm diameter shoe/dog end to fit into the existing downpipe. I realise I'm being especially dumb but my brain is fried. It's been a mad couple of weeks.

Delivery is £20 so I want to order right first time otherwise I'll be incurring mega charges!

Cheers

Standard down-pipes and fittings are 65mm/68mm.

Thanks for the info I thought i’d made a mistake but it defo says 63mm on the description. So if my pipe is 65mm, I need to get a shoe or end of 68mm? I have only found 65mm, 75mm and 100mm ends so far with the exception of this 63mm.

Edit: Brain has finally woken up... of course I need a 68mm shoe! I’ve got so much going on right now i’m not firing on all cylinders. Thing is, I can’t find a 68mm cast iron shoe or end. All I can find is ‘cast iron style/effect’ in 68mm.

If my memory serves, cast iron DP's are smaller than their plastic counterparts.

I’m scrolling through ebay now for a used one. I get the feeling they don’t make cast iron ends in 68mm any longer.

How convincing are the cast iron style/ effect knock offs? Stick out like a sore thumb or good enough to fool you?

Great thanks! I’ll take a look at those. I need to paint mine white to match the existing cast iron downpipe. I haven’t painted plastic before, do you know if I need specialised paint or not?

I did cast my eye over the cast aluminium range but I can’t see any shoes or ends in 68mm either.
