What type of central heating to go for ?

Personally I'd go for underfloor heating AND a log burning stove (largely for the effect) - that way you will be toasty warm and you don't have to rely on one heating source in case one breaks down on a cold day.
(I realise a log burning stove doesn't break down - but you may not have any logs left)!
