What was that road sign?

I

imamartian

It is a white circular sign, with a grey border, and has a picture of a lorry in it, and 4 or 5 black parallel diagonal lines through it. The whole image was (in computing terms) 'greyed out'.

And no officer, i haven't been drinking.... it's as you arrive at a round-a-bout.

Any ideas anyone?

End of goods vehicles restriction.

Did you know that ALL traffic signs have to comply with the Traffic Sign Regulations and General Directions act 2002 ?
If they dont then they are deemed non compliant therefore not legal which if you land yourself a parking ticket say, could get you off. For reference heres the link http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2002/20023113.htm interesting reading.

Hm. I'd like to think that the answer lies in the Traffic Sign Regulations and General Directions act 2002, but I'd also like to think that someone else will read it and find out! ;)

The reason the sign is grey ? I am informed by a certain tfraafic warden is because it is more distinguishable in the grey colour, if it was red then it would look more like lorries are prohibited.

I thankyou very much no need to applaud

On the issue of legal road signs, I seem to remember a driver who escaped a ban (last 3 points on the licence to take it to 12) when she admitted, in court, speeding through a roadworks set up well above the clearly signposted 50 mph limits. Her lawyer then stood up and proved that the signs didn't meet the criteria to make them legal.
