So, removed some wall cupboards a few months ago found a black mouldy area in the plasterboard behind. Realised that the silicone around the base of the shower above needed replacing as water was leaking through and causing this.
Left it to dry out for a few weeks and then, this morning, cut out the area of plasterboard affected only to expose this!!
I am not sure why there is wood behind (maybe to do with the plugs/spurs below?). Anyway, the wood, as you see is mouldy too but is now pretty dry. I assume now it’s open to the air it will dry out very quickly and completely.
Would you cut the wood out too? Or, once dry, can I coat the area with an anti fungal barrier of some sort and replace the plasterboard?? Bit unsure about cutting the wood out as not sure I trust what is behind re cables.
Thanks
Mark
PS the mood patch on the plasterboard was smaller than that in the wood.
