what's a 1 pipe system?

There was many types of single pipe systems installed here in the UK, many of which were on gravity circulation, for example; a single pipe drop system was very common. Most were named after the way they connected the radiators.

When I served my time, I was lucky to work with some old boys that were a fund of knowledge and installed gravity central heating systems in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands. I can hear these old gits laughing from the grave at all you DaftyDIY'ers & CC/CCCs...........

Well Dick Puller, I'm very surprised you haven't jumped on the reverse return that Mehran and Holmslaw was talking about.

I actually made a sweeping statement to Holmslaw (it's gone Missing, bloody mod) to see if he/she could educate me  still awaiting

The reverse return that Holmslaw would be talking about ( hopefully) is not a one pipe system, but a two pipe, whereas the flow feeds from one end of the building/ circuit, and the return feeds from the opposite end.
